The app is well polished and it is full of features (even though I don’t use some of them at all). If that is the case, then I would tend to agree that it is a fair price point. Nice review and it basically goes over all the topics I usually mention in this sub why the Flex is better than the BB: case compatibility and specially the sticks.īut although I agree the existing subscription price is unreasonable IMO, I heard they are offering 50% for some people. So I truly don’t care if the Gamevice App is bad. I’ve only opened it a few times despite having 6+ controller games installed. So unless you are using the Twitch/recording features extensively, there really isn’t much reason to use the app. You don’t even need it to use the controller either. IMO the Backbone App doesn’t provide much utility, especially at a $50/year price point. That alone was enough to convince me to make the switch. I ended up watching a bunch of different reviews, every one I saw said how the Gamevice Flex is much easier to hold and had superior analog sticks. I cut a stress ball in half and hollowed out parts to act as grip extensions but it only helps so much. Specifically, my pinky and ring finger on my left hand get destroyed due to the way you need to hold the device to use the analog stick. I’ve got relatively big hands and the Backbone starts to really hurt my fingers after extended sessions. I purchased the Gamevice Flex on Amazon earlier today. But if they could just get the software side figured out, it would be a superior product-purely in case support alone I really like my Gamevice and would rather use it over the Backbone. Gamevice has phenomenal case support and even has a guide to figure out your configuration The app is the biggest sore spot and a small subscription might be become a source of revenue to improve the experienceīackbone doesn’t support a case or requires HEAVY modifications to get it to work However, the app has allowed Backbone to keep up with updates and deliver new content I hate that it costs SO much for an app to keep the backbone functional. The app is free and there is not additional fees This is partially due to the fact that there is no ongoing revenue for the Gamevice. Like completely unusable and is-in my opinion-the biggest sore spot. The Gamevice works out of the box but the app for the device is broken as fuck. The app functions well, not perfectly but well It just works out of the box and doesn’t require much to get going. Overall I like holding the Gamevice moreīackbone takes this hand over fist. The buttons feel like an Xbox controller and the tiggers feel closer to a ps4. The Gamevice Flex has a design that is similar to the Kishi. The buttons are similar to the switch and so are the analog sticks. The Backbone definitely had a better design. I have to say I do prefer it to the backbone (Solely for the reason I can use it with a case on my phone). I did a lot of research into what I thought would be a good replacement. All this to say, I ultimately had to to exchange it. It worked perfectly with Moonlight, App Store Games and Xcloud. It worked right out of the boxed with well supported software and a community attached. I absolutely loved the controller and almost everything about it. I have been an avid backbone user for the past year or so.
